PTI March 2016 Blog Hop Challenge

After using the Make it Market Mini Garden Guild stamps in my last post, I thought to myself that it would so cool to have it in the polar opposite – lots of big bold  colour.

When I saw the amazing inspiration photos for this month’s blog hop challenge, I just knew it was a match made in heaven.

I suppose people would look at the photos and think of embroidered flowers or shades of grey. Me, I wanted to make a dress. A dress of flowers. The flowers needed to be stunning, yet highlight the dress itself.

While I liked the idea of grey as a background, that didn’t satisfy my need for big bold colour. So I went with a white background and cut out a big billowy dress. Then I stamped the flowers with all sorts of bright colours from my ink stash. The sentiment is from the Signature Greetings set as this is going to be a thank you card to an awesome girlfriend.

Hopefully it doesn’t look too wedding-ish. What do you think?

PTI MIM #243: Ink Blending Over Heat Embossing

I’ve been planning on trying this technique in ages, and just could not help myself when it came up as this week’s PTI MIM theme. I decided to use my Make It Market Mini: Garden Guild stamp set that arrived a couple of weeks ago. I am totally in love.

I used the Versamark ink to stamp the flowers and leaves, then heat embossed with Ranger superfine clear embossing powder. The inks used to blend were Distress inks in Spun Sugar, Squeezed Lemon, Dried Marigold and Tumbled Glass. So happy with the way the colours have turned out! And the way the flowers framed the sentiment – a happy surprise.
