PTI MIM #244: Score Lines

Does anyone else have trouble making guy cards? They are my absolute achillies heel of cardmaking.

When I was looking at this week’s PTI MIM, I was really tempted to pull out flowers and butterflies and all sorts of sweet. However, I have a good friend’s little man who is in serious need of a birthday gift and card to go with it. So here I am with trains.

This card was one big salvaged failed experiment. Originally, on white cardstock, I did the score lines, added the sentiment (straight for once) and the train from the Train Tracks set using Brilliance Graphite Black then painstakingly coloured it all in with copics. But it looked so… boring. So I decided to ink blend the top edges with light blue to emulate sky. All I can say is Epic Fail.

But after all that crazy effort copic colouring, I refused to let the card go to waste. So I fussy cut the lot, mounted it on blue card stock used 3D foam and it looked instantly better. But still, I wanted a bit more pop so I went over the train with Wink of Stella and it just looked so much happier! Much more choo choo than boo hoo. There is nothing glitter (and/or tea) won’t fix!

Now on to find some train fabric to make some toddler harem pants. A boy can never have too many pairs of pants.
